K1 De Ultimate refuses to apologize after Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa schools him over his comment about Alfas at late mom’s fidau prayer

Renowned Fuji artist King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has found himself at the center of controversy following a comment he made during his late mother’s Fidau prayer.
The remarks, perceived by many as offensive towards Islamic clerics (Alfas), have sparked backlash, particularly as they came shortly after the passing of his mother, Alhaja Halimah Anifowoshe, at the age of 105.
In a video clip circulating online, K1 De Ultimate is seen conversing with a man while preparing for his mother’s 8-day Fidau prayer. During the discussion, he used the phrase “Ganusi” in reference to some Alfas, which many viewed as disrespectful.
This phrase immediately sparked debates online, as many interpreted it to mean that K1 was implying that some Alfas attend such events primarily for the food served, labeling them as food mongers.
In his words, “Alfas will not go to my father’s house for the party, It’s my house they will Ganusi. Then we prayed in my house before going back to my father’s house for the main party.”
The Fidau prayer, a significant Islamic ritual observed in honor of the deceased, was held on Friday, January 24th and it attracted A-list celebrities and well-recognized clerics, including Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa, who held a sermon at the event.
During the sermon, Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa addressed K1’s statement, offering corrections and criticisms during the event. He, however, politely asked K1 to tender apology to the Alfas over his statement.
However, K1 De Ultimate has stood his ground, refusing to issue an apology despite the backlash. He, then, ordered Sheikh Onikijipa to continue with his late mother’s fidau prayer.
The incident has sparked debates on social media, weighing in on the issue. Some reactions are shown below:
